Nickelodeon Monkey Quest Prize Pack #Giveaway 8-18

If your children are like the more than 10 million people in the U.S. who enjoy online gaming and exploring virtual worlds, they're going to love Nickelodeon's newest game - Monkey Quest.  This innovative online game world is made for kids ages 8-12 and since its launch in April 2011, Monkey Quest has become one of the most visited kids' virtual world sites, attracting more than 3 million registered users!
Monkey Quest puts kids in charge and empowers them to chart their own adventures.  And in true Nickelodeon fashion, there's plenty of relatable kid humor to keep them engaged and entertained.  Set in the land of Ook, a mysterious world where monkeys rule, players join one of five tribes and band together against one dark force that threatens them all. Promoting cooperative play and learning, kids are encouraged to work together to defeat monsters, solve puzzles or explore a variety of locations throughout the evolving virtual world.
One of the great features of Monkey Quest is that it's free to play!  Kids can have a rich gaming experience for free, including explore new trails, play on various levels, etc.  There will always be people to play with and something new and fun to do no matter what level you are in the game.   For players who want a deeper gaming experience, there's a hybrid payment option to gain access to quests, abilities and other exclusive elements.  The hybrid payment model provides maximum flexibility for parents who can choose a subscription plan or a "pay as you go" option through NickCash, Nickelodeon's virtual currency.

My Take:
Okay, I think this might not be a kids game after all. I had just as much fun playing Monkey Quest as my kids did. I have to be honest I had trouble giving up the keyboard so they could have a turn.  First you get to "create" your monkey then you get to give him a crazy, mixed up name.  From there you begin your journey through The World of Ook. It takes a little bit to get the game loaded, but after that it's all pretty smooth playing.  You use the arrow keys to control your monkey as well as the space bar to jump, and a few other keys for special features.  I really liked how it told you when you needed to use some of the other keys like Ctrl to interact with other animals.  I literally had to drag my son (11) away from this game the first time he played it.  I guess I know what this mom will be using for an incentive!

Play it: You can play Monkey Quest for free online. Right now Toys ‘R Us has a promotion, which is running from 7/31 to 8/8. Through the promotion, if you purchase a $25 game card, you get $15 worth of free gameplay, which is rewarded as an extra month on your subscription. So basically, you get 3months worth of playing time for the price of 2. Plus you get an exclusive bonus item for your child’s monkey.

Win it: One lucky reader will win a Monkey Quest tote bag, t-shirt and hat along with an insider’s guide to best navigate the land of Ook. This giveaway will end August 19th at 12:01 AM EST. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email. If no response, a new winner will be chosen. Open to residents of the US.
